Starting on February 2011 bioinformatics.gr will be supporting the free allocation of subdomains with transparent redirection to bioinformatics teams of Greek PIs from all over the world.
The subdomain naming system will be based on the PIs name and not on the subject of research to avoid stopping teams with overlapping fields of research to join up.
Additionally on the separate specialized section of the main site, the name of each different team will be added in the list of affiliated groups sorted
a. according to the fields of research and
b. alphabetically.
In the case that a group will be needing hosting services, ftp accounts, email accounts, or any additional service, there will be a yearly charge to cover
a. the hosting plan expenses
b. the weekly site backup schedule.
Separate sections have been created to cover the needs of presenting
a. bioinformatics code for the community
b. to host academic software
c. Job advertising
A related google newsgroup can be accessed here. Take in mind that it has an invitation only policy.
This endeavor will be carried out under the auspices of the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens.
